Being a transplant to Arizona there are a lot of things I find fascinating since I didn't grow up around them. One thing I love in particular is the massive amount of citrus that grows here. Driving down the main street by our house I see orange trees full of fruit, just waiting to be picked. Every one of our neighbors has a citrus tree or two growing in their yard. In fact, my good friend dropped off a huge bag full of grapefruit about a month ago, and just this week my neighbor behind me brought by a bag of lemons. And these aren't the tiny lemons you see in grocery stores, these are enormous, softball-sized lemons.
Case and point.
So what do you do with a bag full of lemons?
Over the past three years I've learned the best way to preserve them is to juice them, make a few treats, and freeze what you have left over. That is, if the girls don't get to it for lemonade stands first!
Which they inevitably do.
And when it's 80 degrees in February and they are self sufficient enough to do all the work themselves, it's hard to say no.
These little entrepreneurs even positioned their stand where traffic had to pass....on BOTH sides. They ended up running out at one point, but it may have something to do with their "Buy One, Get One Free" offer, and free drinks to the little sisters.
Who really enjoyed the fruits of the big girls labors.
Despite all the handouts, they ended up making $4.00 in about 15 minutes, and had quite a few compliments from neighbors on the yummy tasting lemonade (I'll happily take credit for that!).
I'm proud of them! And thankful to my neighbors for all the freshly picked citrus!
Next on my To Do list....Lemon Bars!

Biggest lemon ever! We have teeny tiny lemons here and they are 2 for $1.99. Seriously.

Haha, I love Lily's face in her scrunched nose picture, she is so dang cute.
I love the lemonade stand and would have totally stopped for those cute girls. :)
Any chance you want to mail me those lemon bars you're making? Just a thought.
