This little girl turned 18 months today. And for me this was a big, BIG deal. In our church once children hit 18 months or "nursery age" they get to go play with toys and other kids, as well as get a small snack in nursery, rather than having to be wrestled by mom and dad, or in poor Lily's case - strapped into her carseat because we were too tired of chasing after her. Of all our girls she seems to be the most confident and happily walked into nursery like she owned the place....despite being the youngest. Best of all, she loved being in there. Part of me missed her, but the other part of me felt so relaxed. I wasn't completely wasted once church was over. Only 5 months of baby free arms, so I better enjoy it while I can!
A few insights on Lily, just so I can remember this fun age:
- She still out-eats her sisters, and will almost always eat what we put in front of her
- She always wants to eat with a fork. If I don't give her a fork she throws her food on the ground.
- When we go to Chick-fil-A I have no problem letting her loose in the play area. She's able to keep up just fine with the older kids and somehow never tires of going up the stairs and down the slide a hundred times over.
- In the last few weeks her vocabulary has exploded. She's saying things like: pillow, towel, Mom, Dad, Brook, Emma, boy (her word for blanket), night-night, go, no, out, cheese, milk, apple (this is her word for ALL fruit with the exception of "nana" for banana). I'm sure I'm missing some words, but she has really become quite the chatter-box.
- Her smile is absolutely contagious.
Really and truly, as busy as she is and as crazy as she makes me with the incessent messes and climbing on things....I LOVE this girl. I could just eat her up every time I see her. Like today, she pulled 20 paper towels off the roll and brought them to me. I had such a hard time being mad. Instead I wrapped her up like a mummy and let her bust out of them. It was worth it to hear her giggle. It's moments like that I wish I could freeze in time.
Happy 18 months to my spunky, busy, happy, talkative little girl!

Lily is so adorable! I can't help but smile whenever I see her cute face. I love the story about the paper towels. Wish we lived closer to you guys!
